As humans, we are wired for connection and long to love and be loved.

Reignite the passion you once had for each other

Do you feel like you’ve lost the connection you used to have in your relationship or that you are always walking on eggshells to not upset your partner? Do you miss the closeness you used to share or wonder if you will ever get past the same perpetual argument? Couples counseling, or what some call marriage counseling, can help you feel more respected and loved, and help you develop the skills to manage conflict so you can regain the passion and connection in your relationship. Together we will utilize a clear process to assess the areas of strengths and difficulty in your relationship and develop a plan together to strengthen your romantic relationship overall. This process helps couples develop more enjoyable connections with their partner.

I utilize The Gottman Method which is based on the research of Drs. John and Julie Gottman who have been doing on couples counseling for more than 40 years. The Gottman Method is one of only a handful of marriage counseling methods that are evidence based and shown to be effective. It has been shown to help couples address areas in their relationship that could lead to divorce and help couples increase satisfaction with their marriage or relationship.

Couples therapy with the Gottman Method begins with assessing the relationship and determine what are areas of strength and areas that need strengthening. After the initial assessment, the first three sessions, the couple will set goals after hearing about the therapist’s assessment. From there, the therapist will support the couple in practicing and utilizing strategies that will help the partners strengthen their relationship.

The process for couples counseling starts with four sessions:

-A 75 minute session with both partners.

-Individual 35 to 40 minute sessions with each partner. Prior to the individual session each partner will have completed a number of questionnaires taking approximately 2 hours

-An 75 minute session with both partners to go over an assessment of the relationship and develop goals for therapy.

-Subsequent sessions will then be 75 minutes each with both partners.
